When a family has a wedding, it is such a thrill for everyone, a new unit of society. The announcement of a new addition to the family fills everyone with excitement and joy.
For some reason people always look at things from one side, even though everything, like a coin, has two sides. No, I don’t think marriage is a terrible thing. It’s just that many women still think that happiness can only be found in marriage and starting a family. Young girls often don’t understand what marriage is and what goes along with it.
Their main plan is to get married, and then everything will fall into place. I will tell you about my experience. I used to believe that if I married the man I loved and had a child with him, I would be the happiest person on the planet.
But unfortunately, marriage has brought many new problems into my life. We hadn’t even started saving up for a house yet when I found out I was expecting a baby. Having a baby is often exorbitantly expensive these days.
We were thrilled to be pregnant. My husband worked on his own for a year while I was on maternity leave and suffered from acute financial insecurity. I’m not even talking about saving money for the house. Motherhood was also very difficult for me. My son was restless, he was sick all the time, I wasn’t getting enough sleep, and my nerves were in such a state that I couldn’t control myself. At one point I even considered running away. You see, not every woman is meant to be the keeper of the family home.
I wish I’d realized that sooner. My son was two years old when my husband was fired from his job. He immediately fell into a deep despair. And where there’s a boyfriend, there’s a shot or two of hard liquor. I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands. I enrolled my child in kindergarten and got two jobs myself. I worked hard to make ends meet while my spouse slept in bed in a drunken stupor. It was so hard and excruciating that at times I wanted to howl. I wouldn’t have any problems if I were alone, not with money, not with fatigue, and not with my psyche.
One day I asked my mother-in-law to talk to my son and bring him back to reality. It’s not typical for a man to get discouraged and drink away money that’s already scarce. At the same time, I exposed my heart to her, telling her that I was having a hard time, that I wasn’t coping, that I was barely hanging on.
After all, I expected support, kind words. However, my mother-in-law informed me the following. You know, it’s not just you who is having a hard time. But you are a woman, and you have to bear it, because it is not fitting for a woman to be weak.
A woman is usually the glue that holds a family together, so shut your mouth when you want to scream and blindfold yourself so you don’t cry. Whatever fate you choose, accept it and move on with your life. Don’t grumble! Honestly, their words pierced my heart like a dagger.
She’s a woman, too, and I know it’s hard for her. Her spouse is a slacker, but instead of helping each other, she told me to close my eyes and bear it. But how much more can I endure? Life is one, and one wants to live it as smoothly and joyfully as possible. There will be some obstacles, but not such as now. A woman’s destiny is to be cheerful, light and weak.
