The woman was finally left alone at home. She took the family for a walk. She had a lot of household chores: to clean, to cook dinner, to wash clothes… As if there was something else.
The doorbell rang.
– Did they forget something?
She opened the door, and a young girl stood in front of her.
The girl unceremoniously entered the apartment as if it were her home.
– Where is your bathroom? Do you have slippers? My feet are freezing.
The woman was as if speechless. She just waved her hand towards the bathroom. The girl washed her hands and went to the kitchen, sat down at the table.
– Will you offer tea?
The hostess quickly made tea for the stranger. She drank the tea in silence. Finally she got tired of it and could not stand it:
– Who are you anyway? Why do you command in my house?
– Who am I? I am your husband’s mistress.
– If this is a joke, it’s not funny.
– What joke, lady! We’re seeing each other.
-But that’s impossible. He’s twice your age! – the woman was already indignant – And he couldn’t do such a thing!
– You are too trusting. Here, look. – the girl took out the photos and handed them to the woman.
The photos really were of her husband. The ground went out from under her feet.
– So why did you come? Do you want money? My husband? What do you want?
-No, I don’t want anything. I just felt sorry for you. You work like a dog. Two jobs, a house, kids. And what about him?
The girl raised her hand and showed a ring with a diamond, and earrings on her ears.
– What is it?
– He gave it to her. It was enough to hint.
– What is it? For what money?
– Do I care where he got the money for it? He buys everything for me. And you? You’re just pulling the sled. He has no interest in you anymore.
-How dare you! Shut up!
– Calm down, woman. I’ll let your husband go. Just let him buy me a car and I’ll dump him.
The husband and children returned home.
– We’re so hungry! Have you made food?
– Mom, but this is yesterday’s soup! I will not eat it!
The woman couldn’t stand it:
– Don’t eat it! I’m sick of it! How many times? I try, I try, and no one even appreciates it – she looked piercingly at her husband – And you? How long are you going to work for this meager salary?
– Well, you have to change something, don’t you? What if it doesn’t work out? It’s better not to risk it.
– And you take a risk for once! And anyway, why are you all sitting on my neck? I want to live, not to exist!
With these words she tore off her apron, put on her boots, put on her jacket and left the apartment.
She is tired.
The woman has lost track of time. She was already hungry. But she did not want to go home. So she decided to go to a restaurant. “So what if it is expensive! I can afford it” – she thought.
After eating in the restaurant, the woman walked along the snowy streets of the city. People were passing by: cheerful and happy. They went into shops and bought something, wanted something. And what did she want? The first thing that came to her mind was her husband and children. Not her. She didn’t even know what she wanted.
It was calm at home. Everything was cleaned in the kitchen, the dishes were washed. The woman was surprised at such cleanliness. Her husband and children were trying to cook dinner.
– Shall I make some tea?
– “Yes, do it.
The woman drank tea silently and went to bed. She could not look at the man who cheated on her.
In the morning she overslept. It was too late to go to work. The woman saw that neither her husband nor her children were at home. They had packed without her help. They even left her prepared sandwiches and a nice note.
The woman did not take up any work. She took a piece of paper and sat down to write her wishes. At first it was difficult, so she decided to start writing down what a woman could want. And it went well – the wishes poured down the river.
Some time passed. The daughter met her friend.
– How are you? How are your parents?
– Everything is just fine! You were great the other day. Mom believed you and Dad had something.
– I was so afraid it wouldn’t work. I’m glad they’re okay.
– And you know what the best part is?
– What?
– Mom finally took care of herself, started exercising, dressing nicely. She even got a promotion at work. My father also started another job with a high salary. A light finally flashed between the parents. They are going to buy a new car. So thank you, you saved our family.
