The man spread a rumor around the village that he is a lonely and infirm old man, claiming social assistance on a par with those residents who have been alone all their lives or who have no children. He himself has a son, and lives across two villages from us, and the old man breaks the drama.
All the old men are familiar with this made-up story: a thirty-year-old man was charmed by a sixty-year-old woman, she promised to sign over the dacha to him and an apartment in town, and he immediately abandoned his old father and got married for his joy. The old man and his legend made it to the local newspaper, so that everyone knew how it was “in fact”. But what a sin? Everyone knows that the son is married to a woman from the third cabin. Both are young, good-looking and work in the same shop. She is even a little younger than her husband, and they have everything – and the house in the village, and always something to build something for themselves, open a store thought for her. And the old man didn’t like her because she couldn’t have children.
At first the man was very pleased with his daughter-in-law, he thought everyone would live with him, but years went by, the children lived next door, and still no grandchildren. The son excused himself for a long time that the time was not right yet, he would have grandchildren later, and then the girl brought a three-year old child into the house – her own sister had not survived the encephalitis and left the little boy.
– Someone else’s child? You haven’t given birth to your own yet, and you’re already taking someone else’s! – the old man shouted at all the nearby houses.
It was then that the young people had to admit that the woman could not have children. There is a chance for treatment, but it is very expensive, and fate has already given them a child of her sister, on which they can direct their parental love and care.
After that, the old man kicked them out and started making up stories about his son’s elderly mistress, only not to admit that he took the barren one into his home and he will never have any grandchildren of his own, which means there will be no one to continue his family.
