Some people’s insolence knows no bounds. For example, my aunt recently demonstrated the wonders of greed. Now we do not communicate with her, and I do not regret it at all. I will tell you in order.
I inherited the summer house from my parents. The place is not bad: we have electricity, running water, there is a nearby train station, you can get by car, the roads are cleaned in winter. Gradually, all the cottages were privatized. Now we have cottages all around, wealthy people gathered around.
My husband and I also built a new two-story house. Of course, we had to take out a loan. None of my relatives helped us. Although at one time I offered my aunt to divide the land, the house, and the expenses equally. She refused.
Little by little we finished the construction. My husband’s business picked up steam. We did the finishing and landscaping without loans. The in-laws remained silent and uninvolved in the process.
Last year we moved into a new cottage for year-round living. I have four children. We gave each of them a room and made a huge kitchen. It was beautiful, just like in the magazines. That’s when my aunt showed up. She started calling on and off, and this year she came unannounced, took a long look at the house and the lot, and then said:
– You’ve done a great job here! I will now come to you every summer with children and grandchildren. Why? There is a lot of space. Your girls can squeeze in, no need to give them a separate room, you spoil them a lot.
I resented it:
– Come for a day or two, but don’t live here. I also want to rest, and not to entertain you all summer. And how I bring up my children – it’s up to me and my husband.
In the end we had a big fight. I threw her out and reminded her that she never helped me for the entire life, and now she came to me and makes all kinds of claims. We don’t talk to her anymore, and I don’t regret it one bit.
