Recently I wanted to put some of my stuff up for sale because I’m moving and need to free my closet of clothes I don’t wear. I wanted to sell the dresses through the website, but I didn’t know how to put a price.
Through the social networking site I asked for advice on pricing from my followers, but they only criticized me, pointing out that there are many people who need clothes and they could take my clothes and I want to sell them here.
So I decided then that people were right. Besides, honestly, I didn’t want to waste my time taking pictures and posting them on the site. As a result, I decided to give the package to the center for the needy.
I found out on the internet the address of the closest center where children who for some reason have been left without parents live. I went there with my things.
They were mostly dresses in sizes 40-42 that I wore for holidays and special occasions. I decided that the 15-18 year old teenage girls would like them and they would be happy with the new dresses.
Also, New Year’s Eve holidays are coming up, so maybe someone will want to wear dresses to celebrate. In addition to these clothes, I collected baby clothes for ages 4-5.
The center sent me to a room that was adjacent to the laundry room. A woman with a disgruntled face walked in on me and immediately started looking at what I had brought in the bags and at the same time she was commenting on everything.
– I take it that everything is used? – she asked me.
– I have only worn them a couple of times, so they are as good as new. I washed them all and just needed to iron them because they got wrinkled in the bag,” I answered.
– We don’t need that kind of stuff! We’ll only take the children’s overalls, and that’s because it’s winter. And the rest you can take, – that’s what she told me.
I was shocked by this.
It seemed to me at that moment that I was some kind of beggar trying to sell my clothes for money. Although I went there with the feeling that I was doing good.
It was very unpleasant and hurtful. Maybe I don’t know what state modern orphanages are in now, but it always seemed to me that they are happy to get any help, since their funding is quite scarce.
Perhaps the situation is different now in rehabilitation centers for people in need. Perhaps now children are being bought new and fancy clothes.
So we should be happy about that! So I didn’t get upset for a long time, and I sent a package of clothes to my grandmother in the village. She told me that the local girls there quickly all sorted.
And what do you think, these dresses are not suitable for the center?
