Recently my maternal grandmother turned 80 years old. But she looks much younger – about 60 years. She is very sociable, she is bored alone. My grandmother lives alone in her twin. My mother is already 55. She works as a teacher, teaches mathematics in primary school. My mother and my grandmother are completely different people: my mother is a calm, quiet woman, and my grandmother is a fighting woman. Grandma needs communication. Last week, early in the morning, she called my mother and said in a weak voice that she was very sick and would probably leave our world soon.
We came to her in pajamas, scared, shaggy, because the call was at seven in the morning. When we opened the door with trembling hands, we all thought that we would not have time to save her. She was lying in bed, seemingly calm. My mother measured her blood pressure. The pressure was slightly elevated. At her age – it is not surprising. We tried to call an ambulance, but the grandmother waved her hand and said that she felt better. Then she got out of bed and invited us for tea. She had bought delicious cakes the day before. We looked at each other with stunned eyes. After all, half an hour ago she called with a dying voice. And now she is going to give us tea.
The main thing is that she is alive and well. Then she began to call often, saying that she was very sick, could not get out of bed, very weak. We decided to put her in the hospital. After all, her age is already old. But she does not want to, she says that if she gets to the hospital, she will never come out of there. Once we called a doctor. He examined her, listened to her, sent her for a checkup, and then told us in the corridor that, judging by what he saw, my grandmother was fine; obviously, given her age, she should go for a checkup, but she has no health problems. As a doctor, he advised to visit her more often. We visit my grandmother almost every day. She lives in the neighborhood. We offered her to move to us, but she refused: you see, she does not want to leave her apartment in her old age.
