I decided to do a good deed for my son and offered the newlyweds to move to me after the wedding. I live in a large three-room apartment, so there was enough space for everyone. I helped my daughter-in-law with the kids while my son was at work. Now I have three grandchildren.
My wife did not stay on maternity leave for a long time, they say, if the grandmother is retired, then let her (that is, me) sit with the children. Then I took the boys from school, fed them, did homework with them, took them to various clubs and sports sections. And my wife returned to work. Honestly, I hoped that in retirement I could finally relax. But my daughter-in-law decided to dump all the children on me. I thought I would just get used to it, but unfortunately, it only annoyed me.
This is how my usual day looked like, I will tell you about everything in detail. I was always the first to wake up and prepare coffee and breakfast for the young people. While they were eating, I woke the kids up for school. I dressed them, packed their bags and prepared breakfast for them. And I washed the dishes, because parents left dirty plates and cups in the sink, saying they were in a hurry. Then I took the older boys to school, and my granddaughter stayed with me, they decided not to send her to kindergarten. We walked in the park, rode on carousels. Of course, I paid for everything.
Then we had lunch and went to school to pick up the older ones. I brought them home, fed them, went to the store, bought food for dinner and quickly cooked soup or potatoes with meat. It was good that her son picked up her sons from sports sections by car. Then, when the couple watched the series, I did homework with the boys. I read a bedtime story, kissed them and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Sometimes during the whole day I could sit in a chair and embroider for an hour, because this activity calmed me down.
One day, when my grandchildren were at school, my son and daughter-in-law went to work, and my little granddaughter was sleeping, I sat down on the sofa to embroider. Suddenly I received a message from my son on the phone. Oh, I wish I had not read it! I could not think that he had such an opinion about me. It turned out that my son sent that message to me by mistake. But it was too late.
That evening I told my son to take my children and wife and move away. I do not hold a grudge against him, but I do not want to live under the same roof with such an ungrateful son. Then in the message from him it was written “Mother climbed on my neck and hung her legs, and we still spend money on her medicine”. However, I paid for groceries in the supermarket, sweets for children and utilities myself. And I have never seen any money from my son or daughter-in-law.
Recently I bought a laptop. Of course, for my own money. My daughter-in-law talked me out of it and said that it was a waste and I was too old for it. However, I learned to use it myself. I started selling my embroidered paintings on Facebook, had a small business. I would rather continue to work at home than ask my son or daughter-in-law for money. And then my neighbour found out about my hobby and asked me to teach her granddaughter to embroider. She paid a lot of money for such tutoring. Now I have several girls whom I teach. But I do not call my son. He blocked me. And my daughter-in-law too. However, I miss my grandchildren very much. How are they doing without me?
Maybe the grandmother needs to make peace with her son?
