If you can’t calm your mother down, then start looking for a part-time job!

I recently turned 38 years old, my husband and I have two children growing up. My older daughter is just finishing school, and my son is an eighth-grader. My husband and I both work, we live in our own apartment. And everything was fine until my mother-in-law decided that it was time for her to retire. Now she believes that her son should fully support her. She demands that he gives her money every month.

– Why does your mother need such money? She has a pretty good pension. And for what money will we support our family? We can buy food and necessary things, but not give such cosmic amounts.

My mother-in-law is 63 years old now. She loves to spend all her free time watching TV and gossiping. She doesn’t want to do anything else.

As soon as my husband and I got married, we lived with my mother-in-law for the first two years. I just don’t want to remember that period of my life. It was a nightmare, you can’t call it otherwise. She constantly tried to control everything, always wanted to know everything we discussed. We endured it for a long time, and at one point we could not stand it and decided to rent an apartment. For about two years we did not communicate with her at all.

Then we finally made up, but there was still a coolness. Now we are actively saving money for our children’s education. After all, I want them to have a quality and good education. Literally three years ago we finally paid off the entire mortgage for the apartment, but now we want to make repairs. In general, we really need money now.

As I said earlier, we do not communicate with my mother-in-law. We just congratulate each other on various holidays and that’s all. She is not particularly interested in the life of her grandchildren. When my mother-in-law set such a condition to my husband, I was shocked. I tried to remind my husband that although my parents live in the village and their income is generally meager, they have never allowed themselves such impudence. They adequately understand that I have my own family to take care of. I have never been against him helping his mother, but within reason, when it is not to the detriment of our family.

My mother-in-law is a selfish woman. She doesn’t care about anyone but herself. She has never been a good mother. Her husband was always somewhere in the childhood, and she was engaged in her personal life.

– If you want to help your mother so much and give her so much money every month, then please find another job. Why should our children have to limit themselves in everything because of your mother? Do we work exclusively for her? So please, sit down and think it over a few times. If you can’t calm your mother down, then start looking for a part-time job. And the money that we collect for our children’s education, please do not move!” – I told my husband.

What do you think the man will decide?
