I had a relative, a lady of energy and dexterity. She went into business almost ahead of the whole country, made money and collected good, sparing no effort, for her son and daughter. She invested everything in children, and then she fell ill. For 20 years she fought the disease, at first successfully, but then the disease began to overcome her more and more often. I bought a two-room apartment for my daughter, and a year later I moved my eldest son from a one-room apartment to a two-room apartment so that he would not be jealous, so that his bride would not set him against his mother. I bought a new car for my son, and immediately bought the same for my daughter, she is alone, she did not want to live with a deadbeat husband – the woman said. The children grew up spoiled. Her son only thought that the political situation hindered his success in business. And he did not see that for success he had to get his heel off the couch. He managed to marry a very bossy and oppositional woman.
The girl envied everyone fiercely all her life, especially her sister. As soon as a scandal started in the family: “Your mother only thinks about her daughter! And she does not care that she has a son. So she will give her her place in the market, and it is better than the one where your mother put us to trade. Your sister is making money, and we’re living in poverty. You fool, you can’t demand from your mother! So he went and demanded. Mom gave in. In the end, the woman managed to leave her son and daughter absolutely equal places at the market, next to each other, so that they would not be jealous. The daughter-in-law started to trade by herself, and the girl hired a girl, because she preferred to work in a beauty salon and she was good at it. She was a much simpler girl than her brother, but she could not keep money: she was used to never refuse anything since childhood, she spent it right away.
And then the woman fell ill and slowly began to spend all her stash on trying to save her life. My brother then said to my sister: “I’m taking my mother’s place, I’ll stand there myself, I’ll trade. I need it more, you are in your salon anyway, a seller is sitting in your place, and my daughter entered the institute, I need to feed her. The sister did not argue with the brother. She really did not need two points of sale. She was more and more immersed in caring for her mother. The money of the sister and mother ran out quickly, the girl asked her brother, because the mother needed to continue the course of treatment, as if there were improvements. “I have no money, I invested everything in business development. You are crazy to sell your mother’s shop!
And what will I live on? Mother won’t get up anyway, all the money was invested in vain! Take her to the region – I will! Daughter returned and went to borrow money from her cousin. We managed to get out of it. Only the disease could not be treated. A month later the woman died. My brother and sister went to inherit and began to agree that my mother’s apartment should be sold and the money divided. Then the brother took out a notebook: “I have everything written down, what and how much I spent on my mother. So we will share – it must be taken into account. And you did not write it down, well, in vain! He wrote down how much gasoline he spent when he took his mother to the hospital, and kept receipts for groceries, when and how much food he brought to his mother … And the cost of … everything. The girl gave him everything without a sound.
With the rest she paid off the debt to her cousin and the monument … She never kept the money. It’s good that her mother, while she was still able, said: “Daughter, I hear that your brother will bypass you in the distribution of the inheritance. Do not tell him, but I bought an apartment in the name of your daughter. While she is small, I let tenants in it, it will be easier for you. Just make sure your brother doesn’t recognize you. They are greedy, and you are simple… The mother knew her son!
