“He did not pay for dinner in a cafe, and now he is surprised at my refusal”

Feminist postulates are becoming more and more popular in our society. While in the Western world there are calls for equality of both genders and a fair division of family responsibilities, in combination with our mentality these statements are often distorted. In particular, you can often meet men who refuse to provide for their wives, because they believe that the family budget is the work of two partners. At the same time, while living together, such men are in no hurry to share family responsibilities, such as cleaning, washing or cooking.

Usually, such men demonstrate their own views on life already on the first dates, but a woman can only understand whether their values coincide and whether she will really be happy with such a man.

I recently went on a date with my husband. We work in the same business center, we were looking at each other for a long time in a coffee shop and a cafe, and finally he came to meet me. He is 31, although he looks much younger, good-looking.

We had a nice walk, then went to a cafe, I ordered a light salad and coffee with a small dessert. He took only coffee. We talked, the waiter came up, asked about the bill. He hesitated, looked at my reaction and asked to split the amount… I was able to pay for dinner. Then he immediately rushed to walk me to the car.

Yesterday, he asked me to go for a walk again this week, the weather is good. I did not make excuses, but immediately told him that I did not want to meet anymore. He was very surprised, asked what was the matter. After a while he wrote: “oh, right, it’s because I didn’t pay”… and then added something like “all women are mercenary”.

I don’t know what’s mercenary about coffee and salad, but if a man doesn’t pay on the first date, it means he either doesn’t have money, or is principled, or he has a conveyor belt of people like me.

Today she writes again to see if she has changed her mind. Apparently, he thinks the reason for the refusal is not important. And I do not need a man who divides everything in half, or a manipulator! Was I right to refuse him?”
