Summer begins differently for different people, for us it begins with the struggle of grandmothers for the attention of their granddaughter and an attempt to win the title of “Best Grandmother”. Each tries to prove that she gets along better with the child. Both grandmothers really want to go on vacation with the girl, of course, at our expense. My husband and I are already annoyed by their cunning competition, it’s all outright hypocrisy. Since last summer, they have hardly mentioned their granddaughter. We asked for help several times, but we were culturally refused, citing busyness. But the weather is getting warmer, and the grandmothers have become more active. My husband and I have been married for six years. We have a five-year-old daughter. We live in an apartment that we earn for ourselves.
We are still paying off the loan, which hits the family budget hard. It is difficult to combine a loan and child support. But my pregnancy was a miracle for us. There was a risk that I would not be able to have children, so when it turned out that I was in a position, we were very happy. It was a real gift of fate. Only my mothers did not share our enthusiasm, believing that we should set the right priorities: either a child or a loan. They declared from the very beginning that they would not help and honestly kept their word. We needed help, but we were not going to beg for it, we managed somehow. Yes, it was not easy. Last year, the doctor advised us to take our daughter to the sea to increase her immunity.
She often gets sick. We do not save on the health of the child, so we immediately allocated funds for this, but we could not find the time. My husband and I have such a job that we cannot take such a long vacation. We are not used to asking for help, but still had to. I first called my mother and without explaining the details asked to spend a couple of weeks with my granddaughter. She immediately refused, referring to business. My mother-in-law yawned at first, but agreed. When she learned that we were planning to send her and her granddaughter to the resort, her eyes immediately lit up. My mother, when she learned about it, was indignant for a long time that we sent her mother-in-law with her granddaughter, and not her. But I threw up my hands, saying that I was busy. Having learned that this year we plan to send our daughter to the sea with someone, they have been actively seeking the attention of their granddaughter since April, although they have not paid any attention to the child all year.
