Our daughter’s class teacher had an elderly mother. She was still able to move and take care of herself, but at some point she got into the habit of calling her children at night and early in the morning: “Daughter, come over, I don’t feel well”. Her elderly daughter had to get ready at 2 o’clock, and at 3 o’clock, and even at 5 in the morning. And to go to work by 8 o’clock. And then the Universe itself began to make hints that it was time to stop. The first hint was a fall, as a result of which the daughter broke her arm. Only six months later – a broken leg. In October, she went to school, and during the winter holidays, her mother again asked to run to her and help, and again at night. As a result, the daughter had bilateral pneumonia, complications and death. That’s how a beautiful and kind person died, who did not return to school after the holidays.
Her whole class together with my daughter mourned her death for a very long time. Not even 40 days had passed since the death of the first daughter, when my mother began to call her second daughter and ask her to come under the pretext that she was not feeling well. But the other daughter said she would not come, and the mother started crying and scandalizing: “you don’t love me, you don’t value me, so I will die”. In response, the daughter would slap her: “My sister came to you all the time, now she is dead. And I do not want to die before you. I have to go to work in the morning, and after work I will come to you. You can call an ambulance yourself! If you can call me, you can call there too.” Since then, 15 years have passed – and the woman is still alive! She did not die without night visits! You can draw your own conclusions. If I become lying down, but in my mind, then let my children take me to a specialized institution. And if I become inadequate, even more so!
When they put the elderly in a boarding house, especially a paid one, it is about their own survival, not to die before their 90-year-old grandmother. In addition, a person can not take care of an elderly person 24/7, because there is work and family, and nurses, you know how much they cost. However, our society can only condemn, without thinking about many things. Our people have the mentality that everyone should suffer. It is better to let a person die than to put a grandmother or grandfather in a boarding house with round-the-clock care.
