For many years the woman worked as a kindergarten teacher. But all these years did not tire her as much as her granddaughter and household chores. The fact is that the woman had a son. He got married and his wife moved to them. The woman retired and began to work as a nanny at home. This work was easier for her, because there were fewer worries. She prepared the children for school, picked them up, took them to clubs – and that was all. She received good money, with a pension just the same. The woman was not happy that the children would live with her, but did not show her dissatisfaction. The daughter-in-law seemed to be a good girl, respectful to her mother-in-law. A year later, the daughter-in-law gave birth to a girl. She could not cope with the newborn, and the woman began to help her.
She was forced to quit her job. But she soon realized that it was her worst decision. She was supposed to babysit her granddaughter, but she noticed that she was doing all the housework too. And soon her daughter-in-law announced that she was going to return to work. “We need to save for the mortgage!” she said. Some time passed, and the woman realized that she had taken on too much. She was not young to cope with such stress. She cooked, cleaned, and ran after her active and capricious granddaughter. The woman did not rest on weekends either. Young people were constantly away from home, they say, they need to spend time together. Therefore, they were constantly on trips, sometimes to the mountains, sometimes to the sea, sometimes walking around the city, going to the cinema, to the theater… Soon the woman began to notice the deterioration of her health, but she could not go to the doctor.
She did not have a free minute, or she had to drag her granddaughter with her to the doctor. So she lived for 12 years. During this time, the young people did not save for an apartment, as they promised to do. But the pensioner managed to save up for an apartment. She decided to move and live separately, because her son and daughter-in-law did not even appreciate her work, and her granddaughter did not like her at all, because her grandmother made her eat soups, do homework. And her parents were a holiday for her with sweets and entertainment. When the children learned that the woman was moving out, they were offended, even called her a traitor. Some time passed, and the son understood why his mother did so, because he felt how difficult it was with the child. But the daughter-in-law did not understand and did not forgive, because she did not want to bother with household chores and a capricious daughter: it used to be so convenient.
