10 years ago I was going to leave my husband. We were married for only a year and a half, we had no children yet. I was 26 years old, my husband was 28. We were young, trying to prove something to each other, fighting for leadership. We lived in a tiny one-room apartment where my husband’s grandmother used to live. At first my parents tried to help us with money, they sent us parcels. It was hard, not with money, but morally. My husband’s mother is not far away: he will visit us, if necessary. And I could only visit mine on vacation. I had no one to cry my grievances to.

Except for my cousin, but I did not see her often. She had a husband and a child, and they lived far away. My cousin was 2 years older than me, we were very good friends in our youth, but she got married first. Her husband is 7 years older than my sister, and even then he seemed to me serious, balanced, even a little stern. Although I have never heard a harsh word from him. – He is just wise, even very wise, – my sister always said, – I am behind him like a stone wall. Harmony and peace reigned in the sister’s family, the son grew up, but we did not have it. Once we had a big quarrel, I packed a bag and decided to leave.

I thought: I will not be lost, I will call my sister and stay with her. And in a few days I will rent an apartment, file for divorce and live alone, since it did not work out with my husband. I jumped out with my bag in the dark September night, sat down on a bench and began to call my sister.
We have our own family, he said. I did not expect such an answer. My only close people refused to help me at the moment when I needed it so much. I did not talk to her for about a year, and then… What was I to do then? I sat in the yard for an hour and left. To the flat. To my husband’s.

In short, we made up with my husband then. A week later I realized that I was expecting a child. Our daughter turned 9 this year. My sister and I made up at our daughter’s christening. It turned out that my husband was the first to call my sister’s husband on that distant September night. He asked me to be refused in the shelter, and I had nowhere else to go. The man admitted that he was looking out the window, and if I left the bench, he would have run after me.

– But I would not have allowed it anyway. And there is no need to be frantic and carry bags at night. Find out everything calmly, and then make a decision. Otherwise, they would let me go, no family. At first I was offended, and then I realized that it was right. You can do a lot of things in the heat of the moment… And it’s all for the best. We reconciled, we have a strong family, where my daughter is growing up.
