10 years ago my husband left me. We were in our 50s. He didn’t take anything, just some of his things.

10 years ago my life changed dramatically. My husband left me. Yes, this will not surprise anyone, but people often divorce and look for other partners, but this should not have happened to us! We were really a perfect couple.

I met my husband at the university. We started an affair and got married. We lived quite well. I stayed in the big city, which became a real home for me, went to work as a pediatrician. Now I am already in charge of a large children’s department. My husband and his friends repaired cars, and later saved money for their own car repair shop.

We had a wonderful life. We always consulted each other on all issues that bothered us. I remember how long it took us to save money for repairs, and then we impulsively decided to spend it on a trip to the sea. We had never had such a vacation before. We returned happy and cheerful, like small children.

My husband never let me lift too heavy bags of groceries, and I always waited for him after work with a fresh and delicious dinner. Sometimes I even stayed up late at night when he worked too long. Our daughter even laughed at our idyll, but at 20 she got married and moved to another city.

When I was 50 years old, I returned home and found a note. My husband apologized for a long time and did not explain anything properly. He just packed his things and left. He left me the apartment, the car and everything else. I could not believe it, because I had no idea that our family could break up at all. Since then, I have not seen him again.

I heard gossip that he was now dating a 27-year-old beauty. Once they were seen in a shopping center. They say the girl is really very beautiful, even other men turn around after her. Also, I knew that my husband bought a new car, but I was not very interested in material goods. He often sent me large sums of money, but I did not accept them. Then, he started sending money to his daughter.

Of course, I tried to hold on. I pretended that everything was fine, that it was supposed to be like that. I told all my friends and acquaintances that it was meant to be, my feelings had long gone. Sometimes I even joked. However, when I came home, I cried bitterly and literally did not know what to do.

One day the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, I saw him. He had changed and aged so much. I invited him into the kitchen and we started talking. After that, he started coming even more often and told me about his diagnosis. He said that he loves me very much and wants to come back, but I don’t know what to do. Of course, I love him very much, but I am worried about the reaction of society. He is waiting for my answer, and I can’t make a decision.

What would you do in my place?
