Don’t think anything of it: I am not a beggar. But could you buy me some tangerines, please?

The girl stood in the store and realized with horror that she had no money left for the fruit that her sick mother loved so much. She especially liked sweet and sour tangerines, which she could only dream about for the last three months.

The girl was born in a small town where there are few opportunities and it is difficult to earn good money. In addition, she was fired from her previous job, two days late, as soon as her mother was diagnosed. The boss gave this job to his spoiled nephew, who somehow graduated from university and does not even think about work. The girl tried to get her job back, to explain to the boss the situation with her mother, who is seriously ill, but it was all in vain: the boss had long been planning to fire her. Treatment was twice as expensive and complicated, as in small towns there is no specialized equipment and a sufficient number of professional doctors. Taking care of her mother, she did not have time to go to interviews, and continued to be unemployed with the only income – a pension. The girl sometimes worked part-time, but all the money she earned went to pay for utilities, medicines or debts, which turned into huge amounts.

She decided to stop at the counter of those very tangerines, near that little dream of her sick mother and buy it for her. The girl weighed one tangerine. She had nothing, could not restrain herself and burst into tears right in the middle of the supermarket. – Excuse me, girl, maybe I’m minding my own business, but are you okay? Can I help you with something?” – a rough male voice sounded. – Yes, could you buy me a tangerine, please, – the girl looked up from the floor and through her tears replied – don’t think I’m a beggar, no. She continued to tell through sobs the whole situation that had developed during the last years of her mother’s illness, until the man picked up two bags of tangerines and bought them.

Only when they went outside, the man said: “I parked my car nearby, let me give you a ride home, I will also examine your mother, if you do not mind. And I came here for the weekend to visit my parents. After the examination, he promised to call and help with further treatment. A week later, the man, as promised, called and said that he had found a charitable foundation that would help organize the rehabilitation of my mother in a private clinic in the capital. Thanks to the help of a stranger, she closed all debts much faster and in a few months her mother left the clinic on her own, after active rehabilitation and treatment by professional doctors. Upon returning to her hometown, the girl had time to work. After a month of various interviews, she found a well-paid vacancy and got a job. When, it would seem, there is no way out, the right person will meet on the way, who will lend a helping hand and the impossible will happen.
