– Why are you standing around that counter for so long? – The girl in the store asked me.
– I’m just picking out some yogurt. I need a low-calorie! I’m still looking for it! – I answered.
– Show me your purse! – She demanded.
I went numb with amazement. And the girl took my bag and began to rummage through it. – And now show me your pockets!
– And why do I have to do this? Why did you decide to search me? What right do you have to do that?!
– Because you’ve been standing at the candy counter for a long time, then you picked out a piece of chewing gum. And now you’ve been standing at the counter with dairy products for ten minutes. This is a very strange choice of products for your age! So you show your pockets!
– Why do you allow yourself such a thing! Call the manager!
– I am the manager of this hall! Show me your pockets! – Shouted at me the girl.
At that time, my phone rang.
– Daughter, I’m in the store.
– Show me your pockets immediately! – repeated the girl.
This phrase was heard by my daughter.
– Mom, where are you? I’m calling the police!
– You don’t have to call the police! – I tried to reassure my daughter.
That’s when I saw the young girl’s face change. There was fear in her eyes. My daughter demanded to know the name of the store I was in.
All of this was seen by the employees and other customers of the store, but no one intervened.
Suddenly, my grandson appeared on the doorstep of the store. He works for the police.
– Grandma, what happened? Why are you so pale?
– Shall I show you my pockets now, or are you going to search me right here? – I asked the receptionist.
-What happened, Grandma? I do not understand!
– You see, granddaughter. I stood by the dairy here for a long time, and I stood by the gum for a long time. That’s why they started searching me. They even checked my bag.
– People like that woman are always stealing everything in the store! And then I’m short! She definitely stole chocolate and yogurt! You don’t buy that kind of stuff at that age!
– Grandma’s on a diet again, Mom? She wants to eat yoghurt! So are we going to draw up a protocol? – my grandson Sasha asked.
– No, let her give everything back and go home! – the store manager took pity on me.
My grandson blushed with anger.
– What are you doing, stupid, I’ll draw up a protocol on you! And pray to God that I do not put you in jail!
– No way! People like them would take out half the store! And I just have to watch!
– Exactly! And you’re not supposed to touch anything with your hands! Did you touch this woman’s bag? What did you have in there, grandma? You had your entire pension, and now it’s not there? And important documents are missing! Why did you give her your bag?!
Then my phone rang again. Sasha picked up the phone.
– Mom, it’s me! Everything’s all right. Don’t worry, Grandma’s fine. I’ll take her home! Don’t worry! Take some valerian.
I don’t know how it would have ended at the store. But my grandson put me in the car and drove me home.
Of course, I will never go to that store again. I understand that they steal from them, that it’s all very expensive. But I can’t even pick up the bag the girl was rummaging through now: it’s disgusting.
Maybe some of the old people stole something from the store, but, after all, it’s not from the good life. I think that mostly young people steal, and no one will steal yogurt and kefir.
– Grandma, let’s you and I go to a cafe, we’ll eat ice cream, relieve stress! – My grandson offered me.
– And let’s! – I agreed.
That’s exactly what I always did when my grandson was little and he was in some kind of trouble.
