WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will allow users of the app to edit their text messages after they have sent them, saving them from having to delete them to rewrite them.

This new function has been brought forward by the specialised media WABetaInfo. In addition, the portal has recalled that WhatsApp already talked about it in 2017, although WhatsApp ended up discarding it days later.
It is not known whether there will be a specific time limit for editing the message after it has been sent. The media cited above rules out the introduction of a message editing history to check previous versions of the message. However, it acknowledges that WhatsApp’s plans may change before the final rollout.
This new feature is still under development. Although the portal reports that it is being tested in the Android beta, it is expected to reach iOS and desktop as well.
Changes to reactions
WhatsApp is also testing another feature: reactions to messages in different skin tones. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is already being rolled out to users on Android beta version 2.22.13.4.
The feature allows users to change the skin tone of their reactions based on the last shade used in their emoji listing. At the moment, it is limited to the thumbs-up emoticon and the emoticon showing two hands clasped together.
