When I was a little girl, a lot of things were incomprehensible to me. I loved my grandmother very much, just worshipped her. And I got very sad when I had to say goodbye, I even cried. I trusted her all my secrets, told her all my dreams. She replaced my best friend, was the dearest person to me.
But one day something very unpleasant happened. My parents had a big fight with her and cut off all communication. Grandma no longer came to visit us, and we stopped communicating at all. She was no longer mentioned in our house, and I stopped receiving gifts and homemade goodies from her.
And then one day an irreparable mishap happened. My parents and I were visiting my uncle at the time, and suddenly my grandmother arrived. Although we were a little older at the time, I still don’t understand what she did. I hadn’t seen her for a long time. There was no pressure from my parents. And if she had come over to kiss me, I wouldn’t have minded, and maybe I would have kissed her back. But that didn’t happen.
On the contrary, right in front of me, she walked up to my cousins, hugged them and gave them candy. I just stood there in a stupor. I was left without a kiss and without candy. Mom saw this and gave me another candy. But it wasn’t the same candy, and it wasn’t my grandmother who gave it to me. I was wildly offended, at home I could not sleep, lay in bed and cried. I didn’t understand why she did that. This time my parents fought with my grandmother again.
Many years later we never saw my grandmother again. But that feeling of resentment from my childhood stayed with me to this day. I still chocolate and waffle candy. And I never eat them alone.
