As soon as you have something that many would want to inherit, even your farthest relatives think of you. Today, we’re going to tell you a difficult story that our reader got caught up in.
I have never agreed with the expression that there can be no other people’s children. They very much can be strangers! My spouse has an adult daughter from a previous relationship. She is a complete stranger to me. Although I have never had children of my own, nor can I ever have. My niece, whom I raised when my sister passed away, became my own. My father didn’t want to take care of the child, so I became the mother of an 11-year-old girl. Now she’s finishing medical school. We talk all the time and are very close.
I’m 48 years old now, and I got married for the first time when I was 43. I used to live with the same man for five years, but we broke up. After that, I took care of my niece and didn’t think about my personal life. When she left to go to university, I met Philip. He was 15 years older, long divorced. We each had a one-bedroom apartment. But when we got married, we decided it was time to get a place to live together.
Philip was very caring and attentive. All my life I had been dealing with problems on my own, and now I had a protector. Now I felt calm and happy. Philip was very honest: he told me right away about his previous marriage, that he loved his daughter and his grandson. The reason for his divorce from his wife was her terrible character. He, by the way, inherited and daughter. She was already married, living with her husband, mother, and son in the next town.
We love each other, and I’m sure we’ll be together for the rest of our lives. So we exchanged our one-bedroom apartment and now live in a spacious two-bedroom apartment. After that his daughter started coming to visit us a lot. She treated me very coldly and arrogantly. She even told Philip that it made more sense for us to live in one apartment and just rent the other.
Somehow, even before I met her, Philip was very ill. My daughter was so busy at the time that she couldn’t take care of her father. A friend helped him. But now she gives us advice on how to live! She talked to my father as if I wasn’t there. His daughter tried to completely ignore my presence. In the divorce, Philip also left his wife and daughter a car and an apartment, which they still live in. He left with two suitcases. And now his daughter has decided to teach him about life?
She left, but her interest in her father has not disappeared. The daughter started calling him regularly, writing, complaining that she wanted to get out of her small town. And then she said that she and her husband decided to buy an apartment on credit, but first they needed to live somewhere for a while in order to get settled and find a good job. But it is expensive for them to rent an apartment, but it’s good to have my father with his three-room apartment. He doesn’t mind squeezing in to give them two rooms. I’m shocked! Philip’s happy to help his daughter, but I suspect she’s got more treacherous plans.
How can they afford the loan if they can’t even pay the rent? The daughter has obviously thought of something. The father is old, she’s going to pretend to be a caring daughter, and I’m going to get kicked out of the apartment. In principle I could go back to my apartment, but we were not planning to get divorced. I told my suspicions to my husband, but he got mad. He said that I was being silly and that he would not allow me to be treated badly.
Now I do not know how to be. But I do not want to live with his daughter.
