My parents’ apartment was finally finished renovating and they had moved out of our place. It was like a holiday, we were home on our own again. I woke up in a good mood and decided to get some coffee. But there was no coffee maker on the table. I looked through all the cupboards in surprise. Empty. The multicooker was also not there. It was a mystery. I poured boiling water over instant coffee and drank it. The mood was already ruined.
When my husband woke up, I shared the news with him. Well, where could the technology have gone. My husband assumed that his mom had thrown out the coffee maker and multicooker. I did not believe it at first. She would rather take it or give it to friends than throw away such expensive equipment. And then, who knows. She always disliked me. Maybe she did it out of spite. She can’t forgive me that her son loves me very much.
We went through the whole apartment three times. But the fact remained the fact: household appliances “like a cow licked her tongue. My husband called my parents, but they said they knew nothing. Maybe it’s for the best. The next day we went to the store and bought a new coffeemaker and a multi-machine. The models were much cooler, and I was satisfied. As the saying goes, “there would be no luck, but bad luck helped.”
A week later, without warning my father and mother came to visit. They came in by themselves, opening the doors with the key. They didn’t even say hello. They had forgotten some things and came to get them. My mother-in-law went into the room and 10 minutes later came back into the kitchen with some packages. In them was a coffee maker and a multi cooker. After taking their things, the relatives quickly left. They didn’t explain anything.
My husband and I never understood what it was. But the mood was spoiled. A lot of equipment did not please us in any way. It would have been better if my mother-in-law had given some of the stuff she had stashed away. And now it’s like we have no use for new purchases. And why such surprises?
What would you think of what your mother-in-law did?
