I recently decided to make a dramatic change in my life. For a long time I kept all the problems to myself. It’s time to tell the whole story from the beginning. I have been married for seven years, and we have lived together for ten. We have two children, a cat and a dog. My husband worked in a big factory, but he has been at home for almost two years now. He used to be a production manager, and he got a big salary. Now he doesn’t want to go anywhere and sits on my support. Even though he has two college degrees, he will only take a manager’s job. And many times he was offered other positions with a good salary. But he didn’t like everything, because it didn’t sound prestigious.
I have to work as a manager in a small local café, which is not far from my home. I get about forty-five thousand a month. That’s good money in our area, especially for a woman. However, it is not easy to support two children and an unemployed husband. Most of all, I don’t understand why he doesn’t try to help me at least around the house, since he has the whole day free. As soon as I ask for help to finish cleaning or repairing something, he immediately expresses his dissatisfaction that the house is a woman’s responsibility. At the same time, he is not shy about taking my gas money to go to another futile job interview. He has been to so many, but none of the jobs were worthy of him.
It wouldn’t have been easy for any woman to carry a job, a home, and a family. I’m very tired of that kind of life. I don’t want this kind of life anymore, because I chose an independent, confident and successful husband. I decided to give him an ultimatum: either he gets a job in the next few weeks, or I divorce him.
