I give my son and grandchildren nice things, but my daughter-in-law gets rid of everything

I am retired. I live on my own. Quite an energetic and strong woman. I even work part-time. I have an only son, he has a family for the last eight years.

He and his wife gave birth to two daughters, who are my granddaughters. They are all family to me. I don’t feel good about my daughter-in-law, though. The thing is, I found out that every gift I give her, she sabagrates through a website on the Internet. Only I do not give anything unnecessary. Mostly I buy quality things. If she only sold her own – that’s half the trouble, but she also sells stuff to her son, granddaughter.

It’s probably my daughter-in-law’s greed that’s to blame. She was always like that. They were not burdened with the housing issue – my ex-husband had an extra apartment, a car, and furniture. He left everything to him. My son works in a good job. Only it is not enough for her. She complains all the time. I once tried to give money to my granddaughters, only my son refused to take it. Said he earns decent money. My daughter-in-law, on the other hand, never refuses. In any case, gifts would not be superfluous.

I would like to pamper my granddaughters. Like all grandmothers. With fancy dresses and fancy shoes. From time to time I get my paycheck, go to children’s stores, the girls with me, take toys for themselves, and I do not stingy. Recently, my daughter-in-law had a birthday party. I asked my son what she would like. He named a certain brand of bread maker. I bought everything, handed it over, she pretended to be happy. Before giving it to her, I bragged about it to my neighbor, and made it clear that it was expensive, because I don’t give it to just anyone. She was delighted.

If not for this incident, then I would not have learned anything. But it turned out that my sister-in-law decided to sell my gifts. My neighbor decided to look on the Internet for the same kind of oven, went to a website where they sell used items, and there is the same baker. And it was signed with my sister-in-law’s name. I was shocked. We started looking for other sales from that account, and she was even selling her granddaughters clothes. Some of them were never worn! And toy equipment put up. And her son’s shirts even. And the price is not low. What a shame! I almost cried.

I called my daughter-in-law and started cursing. How could you do that? She was embarrassed, tried to justify herself, and then said: “Well, what’s the big deal? After all, it’s our stuff. We can dispose of them as we see fit. The children have grown out of the clothes. They are tired of toys. My husband doesn’t wear shirts. They’ve gone out of style. And I tried cooking in the oven, but I didn’t like the baked goods, so I decided to sell it!” I dialed my son; he wasn’t aware of this wife business. But he said there was nothing wrong with it. After all, she decides everything herself.

So I do not know what to do. Dresses are not even worn. If I took the older one, the older one could have it. You can always carry it. It’s all expensive. And this woman sells off all my expensive gifts. And pockets the money. Spends it on herself. Of course, it’s not the granddaughters’ fault. They enjoy my purchases. So I’ll continue to spoil them. It’s not their fault they have a mother like that. I have to ask her not to dare sell the things I gave her.

How do I deal with her?
