My parents and younger brother became strangers to me

I am 21 years old, I live alone. My younger brother is 17.

When I was little, my friend and I in kindergarten dreamed that someday my mom would have a little brother or sister and we would take care of him. And so it happened. When I turned four, my mom gave birth to a boy. I was excited, but soon my mom stopped taking care of him, started spending more time with my dad, and I had to work all day, feeding my little brother, etc. (and also cleaning the house, washing dishes, and other household chores). And Mom and Dad thought that I, as a four-year-old, was already quite independent.

As I got older, I went to school when my brother was two years old. In addition to all the household chores, I had to do my homework. If I didn’t do them, my parents would scold me and say, “You’re already six years old! You are a bad girl! Why don’t you listen and do your homework?” They never took my opinion seriously.

When my brother grew up to 11 years old, he began to be cranky and scold me because I, under strict orders from my mother, never dared to disobey him. He was treating me with an orderly tone, and my parents not only did not condemn him for it, but were happy with his behavior, saying that it was right he was treating me that way, I deserved it. Once, when he was 14 and I was 18, I told my mother everything. And that they treated me badly, and that my brother, in their opinion, was the best. So he threatened me then…

Now I live alone. I do not have a husband or children yet. My brother and his parents left me for another city and we don’t even call each other. I’m glad my life is better now.
