I have been married to my husband for 11 years. We met when I was almost 22 years old. After half a year of acquaintance we started living together. I had a baby when I was 29. I kept listening to my husband that it was too early. For 7 years of marriage and life together we took a joint mortgage (and consequently an apartment). All these years we were in equal financial conditions (we earned the same, sometimes I earned even more, but we did not divide anything, we had a joint budget).
When I went on the long-awaited maternity leave, there was less money, not enough. We quarreled more often. My husband was rude to me, said that he would take the child away. I was afraid of that. There was nowhere to go, no one to stand up for me. Maternity money would not be enough to pay the mortgage, utilities and child support. I felt dependent and put up with all his outbursts, hurtful words.
All maternity dreamed of going to work and divorce. When I went to work (after 2 years) I began to feel more confident, she responded to rudeness with rudeness. I told him he had no right to talk to me like that! For a long time defended myself. Cooled down to my husband. Changed his attitude to me.
Now he has two children and I have learned to love him anew. But on my second maternity leave I work part-time to be independent! I also realized that divorce is not as scary as it seemed. There will be alimony added to my income. And no one will take my kids away from me, as long as I:
Not an alcoholic.
My kids are fine.
I have an income.
Need to be more confident in myself. On my second maternity leave everything is fine. I remember like a bad dream the old days, but I forgive.
