My sister has three children. I am 42 years old and I am single, have hobbies and travel once or twice a year. I live separately from my parents, have a car and a cat (all by the standard of singles). Achieved everything on my own, but instead of being happy for me, my sister hates me.
At first she kept saying that she has a husband and children, and I am an old maid. It was said as if in passing, like, “I understand how unhappy you are,” or “what happiness it is to have children, you can not even imagine. I kept quiet, but it hurt a lot, especially if it was said at the holiday table, where the whole family and relatives were gathered. My mother would say to her: “you sting like a wasp.”
I no longer suffer and complexes because of loneliness, I got over it and got used to it. Now I can’t even imagine having a man living in the apartment with me, disrupting my schedule. I do not have to think in the evening what to feed the family, I can order pizza, I can do with sandwiches. I do not skimp on myself, occasionally cook if I want to.
My sister’s motherhood and marriage has not made her happy. Her husband likes to drink, often quits his job, all looking for a cash position. I suspect that his frequent drinking just gets him fired, but my sister is ashamed to talk about it. Money in the family is tight, after all, there are three children. My parents help out, I don’t interfere. My eldest nephew is 14 years old. He is a boy with a temper, you can’t take him away from the computer, he is addicted to games, and he is rude and can even use bad words to call his mother. The younger girls (aged 10 and 12) don’t want to study, they demand new smartphones, accuse their parents of not being able to provide for them properly. They see their classmates who are well-to-do and whine.
I’m not gloating, but if my sister behaved differently, I could help with money, would take the girls to the sea at their own expense, of course. I would have relieved her morally and financially. But now her problems do not concern me, and she out of pride will not accept help, even if offered.
I only pity my parents, who worry a lot and give up the last of their money. I used to give them money and stocked the fridge, but when they started giving everything to my sister, I stopped doing it. My mother several times complained that I forgot about them, but I pretended I didn’t understand. I think she can guess why I did it herself. Offered to pay for a vacation, but my mother can not safely be at sea when her favorite youngest daughter can not afford it. Said: “Let Sara go instead of us. Now! I work so that my sister and her husband to rest in Bali! Let her husband provide for her, whom she was so proud of and told me in the eyes that I was an old maid.”
