When Emma informed her husband that she was pregnant, Frank was over the moon. He had long dreamed of having a son, especially since his best friend had a boy who had already finished first grade. Father and son are never bored together, they play pranks together, they play tricks on mother. The birth of a son is the best thing that can happen in any man’s life. With a son together you can go fishing, fly airplanes, go to boxing, and do a bunch of different things that were not in the father’s childhood.
The husband was over the moon and just ignored his wife’s hints that a little girl might be born instead of the long-awaited boy. The husband did not take his wife’s words seriously, since all his brothers, father and grandfather had only boys, so he could not have a daughter. Busy furnishing a children’s room spouse did not give any attention to all this. The first ultrasound could not determine the sex of the child, but the daddy-to-be firmly believed that his wife in the belly lives his son. Pregnancy went perfectly, the girl felt great, and all her tests were normal. On the twentieth week another ultrasound was scheduled. The doctor said that they would be able to find out whether they were expecting a boy or a girl.
During the exam, the doctor cheerfully announced:
– Congratulations, you are going to have a baby girl!
Frank almost fainted:
– Look carefully, we can’t have a girl.
Frank did not want to believe the doctor’s words. He was sure that the doctor was wrong, so he decided not to panic beforehand.
The next evening the husband returned from work with a huge box in his hands. As it turned out, he bought his son a railroad. Emma was very surprised by such a purchase, but her husband said that her son would definitely like such a gift. He was very happy about his purchase and played with the railroad himself all evening.
Emma continued to ignore her beloved’s talk that they would surely have a boy. The girl was sure that when her daughter was born, her husband would take her in his arms and love her with all his heart. Every man dreams of a son, but men love daughters more. Her friends and relatives assured Emma that her husband was fixated on having a boy, and it looked strange from the outside at the very least. Emma turned everything into a joke and avoided the topic.
The nine months of waiting were over.
When Emma woke up that morning, she knew the day had arrived. The contractions grew stronger and stronger with every passing minute. The couple quickly got ready and rushed to the delivery room. They actually spent the entire day in labor. All the time her husband was with her and did not leave her even for a second. When it was well past midnight a midwife came out to congratulate her father:
– “Daddy, congratulations, you’ve had a baby girl!
– Why a girl, that’s for sure?
– Of course it’s a girl!
Without saying a word, Frank slowly wandered toward the exit.
– Where are you going, father? Oh, men are weak nowadays. They get lost from happiness.
After Emma was transferred to her room they brought her daughter. The girl was an exact copy of her father. Emma repeatedly tried to call her husband, but his phone was disconnected. The girl began to worry and asked her mother to go and see what the matter was.
When Emma’s mother arrived at the couple’s home, the doors were opened by her drunken son-in-law, who could hardly stand on his feet. The man handed his mother-in-law a bag with the children’s belongings and his wife’s belongings:
– Frank, what on earth are you doing?
– Let your daughter go to you after the maternity hospital, I don’t need them!
– Frank, what’s the matter with you!
– Go!!!
Emma was picked up from the maternity hospital by her parents and her best friend. Frank didn’t come to the discharge. Emma and her daughter went to live with her parents. Frank didn’t even ask how they were doing.
A month later, Frank had a new girlfriend who gave him a daughter a year later. Maybe this was fate.
Now Frank lives with his second wife and daughter, while Emma continues to live with her parents. The girl’s father and mother do not envy their granddaughter, and maybe even the little girl will soon have a new father.
