My aunt rarely visits her children, once a year at most. She herself is from the village, so the city is alien to her. Far from the district center does not go, and then – if the potatoes need to sell. Granny comes only for one day. In the morning she takes the first bus, and the last one she gets back. It takes her four hours to get there.
– Mama, what are you doing? Stay the night at least, – my daughter-in-law begged me at first.
– Who will I leave the household with, my daughter? – my aunt answered.
– Father will look after the animals, stay, – chirped the daughter-in-law.
My mother-in-law didn’t change her principles. She came, gave away presents and returned to her native land. One day, the daughter-in-law asked her brother’s wife, who lived in the village with her mother-in-law, why her relative only came to town for a few hours.
– Didn’t she tell you? – she wondered.
– She said that the household was waiting for her, and that her husband would not be able to cope by himself.
– Of course she was not accustomed to the city toilets. That’s the reason.
And indeed! During the visit, my mother-in-law never went to the bathroom. When the children arrived in the village, they directly asked their mother if this was the case.
– I’m not used to children going to the toilet in the house, that’s why they build latrines,” Granny replied.
– But that’s how they live in the city! – My son said.
– You live and I can’t. My father does not come to see you at all, because he is not accustomed to tolerate. Do not be offended with me, come to us. We have fresh air, and the grandfather built a playground for his grandson.
Daughter-in-law immediately exhaled after this conversation. She thought that her mother-in-law did not like her, offended. Since then she and her husband began to come more often to the village.
