I married for love. We had a great relationship, then a marriage that produced two beautiful children. We never fought, we had no conflicts with breaking dishes and screaming with foul language.
When I had my son and then my daughter, my husband helped me with everything. Not once did I carry heavy bags, never fell off my feet at night because of fatigue. My husband did everything to make me happy and to enjoy life.
And that is how it has been for about eleven years. To tell you the truth, I was probably tired of everything being so vanilla and beautiful and sweet. I was tired of the lack of adventure and the lack of emotion. Everyone in life has to be bad at times in order to feel good. Otherwise, the taste of the good gets distorted and it just gets nasty.
Under the influence of such expectations, I met Mark one day in the park. When he asked for my number, I immediately gave it to him. I told him that I was married, the guy didn’t mind, and so we started seeing each other in secret.
I lied to my husband about going on business trips, I slept over at Mark’s place myself and indulged in the pleasures. I had fun, easy, joyful time with him. I hadn’t felt so adrift in emotion in a long time. Here it was, the life I wanted – full of impressions.
Yes, I changed a lot at that time – I started to take great care of myself, so that I could please Mark with my beauty every time. I did not think about my spouse – my love for him had died out a couple of years ago, I certainly did not want to please him. In fact, she lived with the man she did not love.
One day my spouse tried to find out what was the matter, that our relationship had become so cold. I told him about Mark. At that moment he asked me to leave me for a lover, and the children to leave him. So I did. I even abandoned my own children – I don’t know what kind of fog came over me.
I went to Mark.
-Mark, I told my husband everything. Now you and I will always be together,” I said happily.
-Are you out of your mind?! Why? I didn’t want to live together with you. It just made me feel comfortable. Take your things and go back to your husband. You can come and have fun with me once in a while.
That’s what my lover did to me. And for his sake I gave up the safe haven that had given me comfort and peace for so many years.
