In the 1990s Purple, Self Service and Visionaire indelibly shaped the editorial imagery of fashion magazines. In three decades-that’s the long list of quotable magazines such as Dazed & Confused, Another Magazine, Grafik, Pop, and Love-the glossy paper has had neither limits nor boundaries: it can be said that each season always brings in new editorial releases that try-sometimes succeeding-to stand out and make a difference.

Dapper Dan

With ‘we believe in revolution,’ Dapper Dan has drawn attention to its glossy pages. It bills itself as a semi-annual men’s fashion and philosophy magazine. The editors have published a veritable manifesto proclaiming, ” We believe that a man’s style is something that comes from his own personality, not from ephemeral ‘trends.’ We like cocky men. Men with purpose and soul.Brilliant, intelligent and creative, with ideas and ideologies, who do not fit the standards. Misfits? Yes. We don’t believe in negativity. We believe in revolution.”

Fucking Young

Fucking Young is based in Barcelona and began as an aggregate of creative minds that draw inspiration from the youthful aesthetic revolving around the male world. Very present on the web with a site that is always updated and researched, the print version of the bimonthly publication features a theme dissected from different points of view. The latest issue MENA FW 21/22 has a cover story signed by Mous Lamrabat, a photographer who stands out for a particular sensitivity in blending, in a unique style, Western symbols with the Moroccan world.

Boycott Magazine

It presents itself as a magazine that is much more than a cool binder of fashion, art, music, dance. ‘Refreshing’ in its imposing itself on the French glossy scene, Boycott offers new perspectives on research publishing dedicated to fashion. Founded in 2015 in Paris, it counts numerous prestigious collaborations. The latest issue, again in keeping with its desire to be an ‘influential visual bible,’ has Ben Attal dressed Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello on the cover, photographed by Laurent Humbert.

Behind the Blinds

Fashion, photography, architecture, music and much more are the ‘places’ where Behind the Blinds, the ‘opaque’ magazine – a character choice not to print on glossy paper – which aims to give a behind-the-scenes view of phenomena related to different contemporary lifestyles, ranges. Founded by Michael Marson in Brussels, it is now in its 11th issue and, bought online, gives the option of choosing the cover. Among those featured in the latest issue: SAINt JHN by Rowan Papier, Isaac Cole Powell by Lorenz Schmidl, Lou Doillon by Amanda Elise K.

A part

Let’s not call it a magazine! A part proclaims itself a new creation, a new concept of an art book. With the ambition of being a reference point for contemporary aesthetics, a true art object in its own right, A part changes content, style and format with each issue: unprecedented layouts, changing content depending on the guests of the day, unpredictable graphics that are never obvious.
A limited edition, each issue is a true collector’s item. The latest, has a mirrored cover and content revolving around the concept of individuality and by ‘title’ Regarde-Moi. The cover could only be more apt: a mirror to reflect ourselves in.

Sixteen Journal

Founded in 2016 in Paris, Sixteen is an artistic platform that celebrates the power of storytelling. Published twice a year, it presents itself as a rare object curated to the point of mania. Ranging from unknown talents to masters, its strength lies precisely in this mix of the exuberance of new generationsand the experience of big names in fashion, photography, art, etc. The important thing, stresses the editorial staff, is to provoke questions, without giving answers, but soliciting continuous questions. “We are an evolving podium of ideas to inspire, challenge and amaze our audience.” The latest editorial venture, Volume 4, features Roe Ethridge, Chadwick Tyler, Laurence Ellis, Arnaud Lajeunie, Anthony Blasko, Gareth McConnell, etc., among others.

Le magazine Double

The Parisian Double, goes out of its way not to sound like the usual “fashion magazine that offers an original and transversal point of view on the spirit of our times.” First of all, it has a double soul: an extensive artist-photographer portfolio with a role of honor on the one hand and texts written by famous art and film journalists on the other. The visual aspect is interwoven with long and captivating narratives. The latest issue is under the banner of ‘Breaking Point,’ with four different covers to choose from.

Herdes Magazine

A beautiful publication dedicated to fashion and travel, encased in a hardcover.
Launched in 2016, Herdes aims to be a source of inspiration for a “creative, nomadic and style-leading” generation. Ambitious in calling itself a ‘revolutionary’ publication, Herdes focuses on the marriage of travel and fashion to tell new content. Each issue is dedicated to a single destination, told through fashion, art, design and architecture.
The latest is dedicated to Barcelona-“a vibrant city of slow living”-and will be available for purchase from December 15.

Antidote magazine

Presented as a collectible book rather than a fashion magazine, Paris-based Antidote relies on the authorship of a single personality to make a difference. Each issue is given carte blanche to a creative person to come up with content, styles, and fashion features. The choice of creative director is not limited to the artist or stylist circuit, but also ranges from filmmakers, sociologists, and other professional figures. The latest release focuses on a special project to celebrate the 10th anniversary with Antidote Box FW21, a box set containing no less than four publications: the magazine, Antidote Curates, fanzine and newspaper.
